PIERRE, S.D. – For the 10th straight year, South Dakota is being recognized as one of the top 10 pro-business states, according to Pollina Corporate Real Estate. This year, South Dakota received an eighth place ranking.

“As Governor, I have made job creation one of my top priorities, and I’m proud to say that our efforts are paying off,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “Thanks to a long history of stability and balanced budgets, South Dakota is the place to do business.”

The Pollina Corporate Top 10 Pro-Business States study uses 32 factors to asses and rank the states, including taxation, human resources, infrastructure, economic incentive programs and state economic development efforts.

“South Dakota should be proud of its efforts to preserve jobs, strengthen its economy and improve the economic well-being of its residents,” said Ronald Pollina, president of Pollina Corporate Real Estate.

The first Pollina Corporate Top 10-Business States study was published in 2004. South Dakota has consistently ranked in Pollina’s top 10 list. Below is a historical look at South Dakota’s rankings:
